The Italian NOVA News Agency said that the Libyan embassy in Rome failed to implement a preliminary ruling of Rome Court to return dozens of employees who were dismissed without a justified objective reason to their jobs and to pay their financial dues.

NOVA News Agency confirmed the launching of the first mortgage foreclosure procedures for current accounts and real estate offices of the Libyan embassy. It also said that many former employees are facing financial difficulties and in some cases are at risk of eviction because they have insufficient income after losing their jobs.

The agency cited a Libyan diplomatic source as saying that the Libyan embassy in Italy respects the laws of the host country and all diplomatic procedures under the Vienna Convention, explaining that it is wrong to say that the Libyan side does not want to respect the judicial rulings of Italy.

The source indicated that there are procedures that have timetables and there is an ongoing dialogue between the embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli on this matter, denying that the dismissal of employees appointed under Italian contracts had dire consequences on the functions of the Libyan embassy.
