One person from the Central Region Military Force was killed and another was wounded Monday in an IS attack on Al-Rwagha checkpoint, 30 km southern Al-Jufra.

The Commander of the Central Operations Chamber, Mahmoud Zagal, said in a press statement that the attacking armed group came by 12 armed vehicles and infiltrated from Sirte in an attempt to control the checkpoint that is located on Sirte-Al-Jufra road.

He added that the checkpoint security personnel foiled the attack, pointing out that it is the first time that an IS armed group assaults a checkpoint in Al-Jufra.

Last Saturday, five persons from the Oil Facilities Guard were killed in clashes with an IS armed group near Al-Bayda 47 oil filed, 70 km southern Marada town.

Worth mentioning is that 613 brigade of the General Staff of the General National Congress arrested four IS militants with 500 remote explosive devices and 320 mines in Soukna, Al-Jufra on March 19.
