The Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sarraj, said Tuesday that the "Volcano of Rage" operation will continue until it achieves its goals, and puts back the democratic process on track.

On the sidelines of his meeting with the mayors of the western region, Al-Sarraj reaffirmed that the conflict is not between east and west, but between those who want a civil state and others seeking to militarize the country and to drag it back to the rule of autocracy, saying that the Volcano of Rage operation will pave the way to the desired civil state.

"We are peace advocates, but if we are forced to, we are ready to fight and defend our people," he said, emphasizing that the bombing of the civilian airport of Mitiga is a war crime that violates international humanitarian law.

"The irresponsibility in Haftar's forces has gone as far as recruiting children who ought to be in school,” Sarraj explained, noting that children who have been captured will be handed over to their families, and people responsible for this act will be held fully accountable.

The PC head also reviewed with the western region mayors the latest developments in general and the ramifications of the current events on the capital, in addition to measures to ensure that the needs of all municipalities of the western region are met, including shelters and health care, especially to municipalities located in the combat zones.
