The first social track forum for national reconciliation kicked off in Tripoli, on Wednesday, with the broad participation of Libyan sheiks and notables.

The Head of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Menfi, attended the forum with his deputy Abdullah Al-Lafi and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

He underscored that national reconciliation is a key project for the council with its social, constitutional, economic, and military aspects, as he indicated that reconciliation needs time to produce positive results.

"The PC seeks to establish reconciliation on sound foundations to ensure the country's stability and pave the way for elections," Menfi said.

He praised the role of the elders and notables, whom he described as Libyan ambassadors at home to support the reconciliation project in its social path.

For his part, PC member Abdullah Al-Lafi said that since the PC laid hands on this file, its priority was to make it a success, as it will prepare the ground for an electoral process that all Libyans aspire to achieve.

According to Al-Lafi, the outcomes of the forum will form the cornerstone for the first reconciliation conference that will lead Libya to a national charter.
