The Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) has said that the negotiations with the armed group besieging the Wafa oilfield had come to a dead end.

A cluster of PFG members shut down four oil fields east of the country Last Monday and put forward several demands to the authorities.

The PFG media office said the group is demanding to receive bonuses and military numbers without joining qualification and training courses, which runs counter to the regulations of the PFG.

The shutdown will affect the production of several fields that are linked by pipeline to the Wafa field, the PFG said, noting that the announcement of the financial losses due to the closure falls within the prerogative of the National Oil Corporation.

The Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, had announced in previous statements that the losses resulting from the closure of the four oil fields amounted to 350 thousand barrels per day.
