Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah met with UN Envoy Hanna Tetteh to review recent local and international developments, with both sides stressing the importance of continued cooperation to support political and economic stability in the country.
According to a statement from the government’s media office, Tetteh provided a detailed briefing on her latest diplomatic engagements aimed at promoting national consensus and reinforcing political and security stability in Libya.
The discussions also addressed a recent report from the Central Bank of Libya. Both parties underlined the need for transparency and disclosure in presenting financial data—an approach they said is vital to strengthening public confidence in state institutions and ensuring proper oversight of public spending.
Dbeibah warned that parallel spending outside official frameworks has directly burdened Libyan citizens, urging collective efforts to rein in public expenditure through established legal and regulatory channels.
Tete commended the government’s efforts to improve economic indicators and public services, describing strong economic performance as essential for comprehensive national stability.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of joint cooperation between the Government of National Unity (GNU) and the United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), with the shared goal of creating a secure and stable environment for holding national elections.
