The Libyan Political Parties Alliance has called on the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to immediately launch a political process aimed at achieving national consensus, ending the current state of division, and forming a new unified government to help rescue Libya. The alliance expressed deep concern over the country’s deteriorating financial and economic conditions.
In a statement, the alliance voiced its discontent with the recent statement by the Central Bank Governor, which highlighted the escalating economic challenges facing Libya. It stressed that the current situation requires immediate action, warning that corruption and mismanagement have reached alarming levels and now pose a threat to the country’s stability.
The alliance pointed to unmonitored and unjustified government spending as a clear waste of the Libyan people’s wealth, reflecting what it described as the executive authority’s disregard for its responsibilities.
It further warned that the devaluation of the Libyan dinar amounts to a “collective punishment” of citizens, especially as corrupt elements continue to dominate state institutions. The alliance cautioned that the continuation of such conditions could lead the country into a severe economic crisis.
It emphasized that the current stage demands collective efforts and unified action to face existing challenges, underlining the need for a genuine political process grounded in dialogue and active participation, with the goal of ending division and fighting corruption.
The alliance called on all political actors—particularly the House of Representatives and the High Council of State—to assume their responsibilities and work toward reaching a national consensus that would reunify state institutions and lead to the formation of a new government capable of rescuing the country and securing a better future for coming generations.
This call comes amid ongoing political reactions to the Central Bank’s decision to devalue the dinar—a move that has been met with rejection from several MPs, the Presidential Council, and the Government of National Unity.
