President Saied

Tunisian President Kais Saied said on Friday that his country wants Libya to remain united and for its people to determine their fate through the ballot boxes.

At the Summit of the Arab League States in Jeddah, Saudia Arabia, Saied said the ongoing struggle to reshape the world "should not come at the expense of our nations or resources."

"We want to be on an equal footing with those who want to rezone the area. We refuse to be victims of a new world system that we do not participate in," the president added.

He reaffirmed his country's position on the independence of its national decision and on remaining neutral towards the issues in the region.

Muhammad Menfi, Head of Libya's Presidential Council, had urged the Arab League to play a broader role in Libya by supporting the UN and African Union's efforts to achieve national reconciliation, hold general elections in 2023, and establish an exclusively Libyan mechanism for resource management.
