The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has allocated 10 million dinars to Al-Bayda city to respond to the floods and compensate for the damages following the heavy rain that has ravaged the city since Friday.

The Presidential Council said the money aims to help the city provide urgent compensations to the people who suffered damages in the heavy rain floods.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Al-Bayda imposed a partial curfew in the city for the safety of the residents amid the floods due to continuous heavy rainfall, announcing Sunday and Monday as official holiday.

Meanwhile, heavy rain in Al-Bayda in eastern Libya caused floods Friday and Saturday leading to considerable damages to people’s houses and cars as well as to public infrastructure, including a hospital in the city center.

Sources from the city said rain water flooded into houses and public facilities as the sewers were all blocked and couldn’t absorb the rain water, in a clear indication of the city’s deteriorated infrastructure and public services of the east-based government.
