The Head of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government, Fayez Al-Sirraj, arrived in Rome, Italy, Wednesday and met with the Italian Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni.

According to Italian news agency, Aki, Al-Sirraj told Gentiloni that Libya wants Italian ships to be operating in the Libyan waters to help combat human traffickers.

Both Gentiloni and Al-Sirraj also discussed the outcome of the Paris Meeting that took place on Tuesday and saw the announcement of an agreement between Al-Sirraj and Haftar on a ceasefire and nation-wide elections under the auspices of the UN.

They also discussed, according to the Presidential Council media office’s Facebook page, the possibility of the return of Italian companies to Libya and the participation of the Italian government in securing Libya’s southern borders to help uproot the illegal immigration influx through that borderline.

The Libyan and Italian officials also discussed the resumption of Libyan airliners’ flights from and to Italy.
