The Presidential Council has called on the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to swiftly overcome their differences and urgently agree on the appointment of sovereign positions in accordance with the political agreement and its annexes.
In a statement issued in response to the appointment of a new head of the Audit Bureau, the Council warned that it may be compelled to take measures to address the institutional paralysis should the current deadlock and delays in fulfilling national obligations persist, stressing that it “will not remain a spectator.”
It expressed concern over what it described as “unjustified escalation” through unilateral actions, warning that such steps could undermine the relative stability currently prevailing in the country.
It reaffirmed its commitment to completing the implementation of the roadmap for a comprehensive political solution, especially regarding the unification of sovereign institutions within a specific timeframe.
Mohamed Takala had issued a decision appointing Ahmed Aoun as head of the Audit Bureau, who officially assumed his duties on Tuesday following the announcement.
Both Aqila Saleh and Khaled Al-Mishri rejected the appointment, deeming it a violation of the political agreement, arguing that Takala represents a consultative, not legislative, body.
