The Government of National Unity (GNU) announced the completion of 50% of the construction work on the new Misrata International Airport project, which is considered one of the vital projects to support the aviation sector infrastructure in Libya.

The project is being built on an area of ​​24,000 square meters, with a capacity of up to 3.5 million passengers annually. It features modern equipment with international standards, including four aircraft gates and 15 stations dedicated to passenger boarding procedures, and it aims to improve the travel experience and increase operational efficiency.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, to be a qualitative addition to the national infrastructure, and to support domestic and international air transport. 

GNU's Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah visited the site of the airport, and stressed the importance of the project in developing the aviation sector and achieving international standards.

Dbeibah was accompanied during the visit by the Minister of Transport, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, the Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid Al-Lafi, the Mayor of Misrata, and the head of the executive team for the President's Initiatives and Strategic Projects.
