Dozens of angry protesters stormed Zintan Municipality building on Tuesday, demanding improved living conditions ahead of Eid celebrations next week.

The protesters held their municipal council responsible for the deterioration of living conditions, including the severe cash shortage that is plaguing not only Zintan, but the entire country.

Eyewitnesses said the protesters assaulted the municipal staff and caused damage to the equipment and furniture of the offices.

Zintan Municipality denounced the attack on the building and confirmed in statement that it has no link to the banking system.

“The attack on the municipality and its staff is a wrong reaction,” read a statement posted on the official Facebook page of Zintan Municipality.
