The Attorney General has launched an investigation into the alleged leak of classified intelligence documents dating back to the rule of Muammar Gaddafi.

The probe focuses on a 2011 incident, which took place after the uprising that led to Gaddafi’s overthrow, in which an individual reportedly accessed and shared confidential records belonging to the Jamahiriya Security Authority and the External Security Agency.

In a statement, the Public Prosecution confirmed that the Deterrence Apparatus had been tasked with verifying the authenticity of the incident. Investigators have questioned the suspect on how they obtained the sensitive documents.

Authorities have since seized official records related to intelligence operations under Gaddafi’s regime, allegedly found in the suspect’s possession without legal authorization.

Prosecutors are now preparing to review the materials before proceeding with legal action.
