Release of Dignity Operation opponents puts chief of Qirnada Prison behind bars
The Chief of Qirnada Prison in Shahat, east Libya, has been arrested by Dignity Operation, local news sources have reported.
The Media Center of Bayda said Major Najeeb Al-Awami was arrested last week in Al-Marij city following his repeated release of a number of anti-Dignity Operation prisoners and his refusal to quit as a result. Al-Awami described these arrests as oppressive actions that have nothing to do with the law, according to the media center.
"The General Command in Al-Marij summoned Najeeb Al-Awami, but he was arrested shortly after his arrival," The center explained.
The General Command of Khalifa Haftar Monday referred Al-Awami to the military prosecutor who sentenced him to 10 days in jail pending investigations.
Also on Monday, Al-Awami's family stormed the Justice Ministry of Al-Thanni government in Bayda to protest the arbitrary arrest of Al-Awami.
