Sabratha municipality issued a statement explaining that it is keeping a wide-open eye on the city in the wake of the US airstrike on IS recruits inside a Sabratha house, which revealed some IS sleeping cells in the city.

“Sabratha operations room managed to kill more than 20 persons of the IS militias lurking south of the city, all of whom are Tunisian nationals after they escaped to Jafarah district, which is void of residents as it is of desert-like nature.” The statement indicated.

The statement added that the operations room forces are working hand in hand with the Municipality and other local forces to uproot IS militias from the city and they are still working to bring those who sheltered those terrorists in Sabratha to justice.

The Municipality also pointed out that the operations room had arrested a number of the locals involved in bringing IS militants from Tunisia and other countries to Sabratha, and then handed them to the Tripoli-based Special Deterrent Force.
