The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh has told the Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah to use (1/12) method of the budget law; meaning to use the funds of one month from the 2020 budget total, until a new budget is approved by HoR members, who have so far rejected the 2021 budget bill over seven times.

Saleh said in his letter to Dbeibah that because the 2021 budget bill is still under deliberations, the Government of National Unity should resort to spend the funds of one single month's worth of the total value of the 2020 budget: a method known as 1/12.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the House of Representatives Abdullah Blehiq said Tuesday that all members had received the newly amended 2021 budget bill after being received from the Government of National Unity, saying the new total was 111.273.260.670 dinars.

The HoR had been rejecting and delaying the passing of the budget bill for over seven times with proposed funds by the government ranging from 80 to 100 billion, saying the value of the budget is way higher than the tenure of the government; which is 9 months.

The government surprisingly pulled its budget bill from HoR deliberations last Monday and then provided a new one worth over 111 billion dinars.
