The Serbian Embassy in Libya has expressed its interest in hosting a Libyan-Serbian economic forum early next year, aiming to strengthen economic ties and foster cooperation between the two nations.
In a meeting held on Monday, Libya's Minister of Transport, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, engaged with Serbian Ambassador Darkan Todorovic to discuss the resumption of Serbian companies' activities in Libya and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Transport, the discussions focused on giving Serbian companies a platform to contribute to development projects in Libya. Potential areas of cooperation include healthcare, medical services, academia, and easing visa procedures for Libyans traveling to Serbia.
Al-Shahoubi emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two countries, recalling the historic Libyan-Yugoslav partnership. Ambassador Todorovic reiterated Serbia's commitment to revitalizing bilateral ties and announced plans for the economic forum to be held in Tripoli, scheduled for late January or early February 2025.
