Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby have voiced their backing for all initiatives aimed at fostering stability in Libya and bolstering security in the Sahel region in light of persistent terrorist threats, as stated by the Egyptian Presidency.
Al-Sisi welcomed Déby and his accompanying delegation at the Egyptian presidential headquarters in the new city of Alamein on Tuesday.
During their meeting, the two leaders highlighted the strong bilateral relations and explored avenues to enhance cooperation across various domains.
The meeting also reviewed the latest developments in Libya, Sudan, and the African Sahel region. In addition, they agreed to expedite the activation of the joint committee between the two countries as soon as possible and emphasized the necessity of supporting ceasefire efforts in Sudan.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at achieving stability in Libya and enhancing security in the Sahel region in response to terrorist threats.
