Libyan Crimes Watch has urged the release of Sanad Yusif Al-Zarrouq, who was abducted from his home in Tobruk by security services affiliated with Khalif Haftar.

According to the LCW, the security services stormed the family's home in the Hadaiq neighbourhood to arrest the father, Yousif Al-Zarrouq, an activist and blogger.

The activist reportedly participated in the protests calling for the overthrow of the Tobruk parliament.

Yousif was not at home at the time, so the squad took his 17-year-old son in his place to force him to turn himself in, the organization explains.

The statement held the Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity accountable for his safety and called for his immediate and unconditional release.

It also called on the Attorney General to open a vigorous investigation into violations against civil society activists and hold them responsible for such acts.
