A security source in Al-Wahat operations chamber confirmed that the state of emergency has been declared in the city's oil fields and strategic projects in Al-Wahat and Al-Sreer districts.
The source added Wednesday that IS militias, who earlier attacked vital positions in Al-Sreer area, are still posing a threat to the same spots because they are positioned invisibly in the desert, adding that the state of emergency has been declared by the city's operations chamber as a preventive step for any possible IS attack.”
On Tuesday, an armed group, believed to be affiliated with IS, attacked the river location in Al-Sreer and Al-Shula areas, killing four members of the Oil Facilities Guard.
