The Sudanese Embassy in Libya has firmly denied allegations made in a BBC report claiming Sudanese women were subjected to violence and sexual assault in Libyan "Abu Saleem" detention center.
In a statement, the embassy said it had received no complaints of abuse from Sudanese detainees and praised the cooperation between the embassy and Libyan authorities. It specifically commended the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency for its efforts to assist Sudanese nationals and ensure their humane treatment.
The embassy also highlighted the Libyan Government of National Unity’s directive to treat Sudanese migrants with the same care as Libyan citizens amid the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
The statement criticized the BBC report as inaccurate and lacking credibility, accusing it of selectively targeting Sudanese migrants.
