Tupac

A Sudanese activist known as Mohamed Adam, widely referred to as "Tupac," has been detained by staff at the Sudanese embassy in Tripoli, multiple sources have confirmed.

Adam, who escaped from prison in Sudan following the outbreak of war in April 2023, had been facing trial over the killing of a senior police officer during anti-government protests more than two years ago. The circumstances of his arrest in Libya remain unclear, prompting condemnation from human rights groups.

The Sudanese Human Rights Monitor called the arrest a "flagrant violation of international norms" and accused the embassy of acting outside its legal mandate.

Meanwhile, Samia Hassan Hamid, a representative of the Sudanese diaspora community in Tripoli, confirmed the arrest, stating it was carried out at the request of Sudanese authorities. She described Adam as a fugitive in a pending murder case, referencing his prison escape during the early months of the war.

The Sudanese Embassy in Tripoli has yet to issue an official statement on the arrest or provide details about Adam’s current status.
