The Sudanese Joint Force reported that it was able to repel an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), in an operation it described as a great victory, and it confirmed that a number of RSF fighters fled to Libya and Chad.
The Joint Force, which includes the Sudanese Armed Forces and civilian volunteers, added that the Janjaweed militia affiliated with the RSF attempted to infiltrate from the Libyan border toward the Sudanese-Libyan-Chadian international border triangle, in an attempt to break the siege imposed by its forces in the Darfur region.
The Sudanese army confirmed in a statement Monday its complete control over the international border triangle with Libya, Chad, the Great Sahara region and Wadi Hawr, which led to cutting off all supply lines to the RSF.
The statement also indicated that the UAE had been preparing for months in eastern Libya to launch such military operations in order to rescue the RSF.
