The Swiss Ambassador to Libya, Joseph Renggli, has updated Abdullah Al-Lafi, Deputy Head of the Libyan Presidential Council (PC), on the latest progress within the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Working Group.

During a meeting held at the PC HQ in Tripoli on Monday, Ambassador Renggli outlined steps to build on the Declaration of Intent signed in May 2023, with support from the UN mission. The discussion also focused on strengthening bilateral relations, political developments in Libya, and advancing key areas of cooperation.

According to the PC's media office, Al-Lafi commended Switzerland's "constructive" role in promoting human rights and international humanitarian law. He also highlighted the importance of the working group’s efforts in these areas.

Ambassador Renggli reaffirmed Switzerland's commitment to supporting Libya's stability and stressed the need for the Presidential Council to maintain leadership over the national reconciliation process, shielding it from political disputes.
