The current Head of the High Council of State, Mohammed Takala, condemned what he described the unilateral measures taken by the House of Representatives (HoR) without consultation with the High Council of State.

This came in response to the House of Representatives' decision to withdraw confidence from the executive authority (the Government of National Unity and the Presidential Council) and the title of Commander-in-Chief of the Army from the Presidential Council.

Takala said that the executive authority is the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Army is the Presidential Council, according to the Geneva Agreement.

He added that any change in the political scene should be made through appropriate mechanisms that are agreed upon, and indicated that "the wealth of the Libyans should be the basis for distributing national wealth fairly among the population and not subject to regional quotas."

The candidate for the position of Head of the High Council of State, Khalid Al-Mishri, rejected the recent measures of the House of Representatives, and described the council's decision to withdraw the title of Commander-in-Chief of the Army from the Presidential Council as "null and void", due to its violation of Article (12) of the additional provisions of the political agreement signed in Skhirat in 2015.

However, Al-Mishri did not comment on the part related to the Government of National Unity.
