The UN Special Representative to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, emphasized the vital role Libyan women play in leading change across the country.

Speaking during the current edition of the “Raidat” (Pioneers) program, Tetteh said, “Everyone has a role in building Libya’s future, but young women can be the main drivers of change and a force for making tangible differences in their communities,” according to a statement by the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Facebook on Wednesday.

Tetteh called on the participants to share the knowledge and skills they gained through the program with others around them to maximize impact and promote broader community benefit.

The program’s activities included presentations by young Libyan women showcasing their achievements following a digital training course in excellence in media and awareness campaign design, offered by the British government.

Tetteh, along with her deputy Stephanie Koury and UK Deputy Ambassador to Libya Thomas Phipps, listened to the participants’ project presentations and handed out certificates of completion for the digital training course.

The “Raidat” program is an annual training initiative for young Libyan women aged 18 to 30 from across the country. It is implemented under the leadership of the UN Mission, with support from UN Women, the UN Development Program (UNDP), and UNICEF.
