Libya is preparing to conduct the second group of the municipal elections, which covers 63 municipal councils distributed across the country.

The High National Elections Commission announced that the number of registered voters for this group had reached 521,987 as of April 10, 2025, with the voter registration deadline set for April 30, 2025.

The elections are scheduled to be held next July, according to the Commission’s announcement. This group follows the first one, which was conducted last November and covered 58 municipalities, witnessing a high voter turnout.

These elections aim to renew the mandates of expired municipal councils and to strengthen political participation at the local level, representing an important step toward enhancing democratic governance in the country, according to the High National Elections Commission.
