The Chief of Staff of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives and the military governor of the eastern region, Abdelraziq Al-Nathori, appointed Colonel Saleh Al-Zarrouq as the mayor of Al-Kufra to replace the current elected mayor. Al-Zarrouq has apologized and was replaced by Mabrouk Ghazawi.

This new appointment is the third by Al-Nathori, who has firstly frozen the Municipality of Benghazi replacing the mayor with a military figure, and secondly replaced Ajdabia’s elected mayor,
Salim Jodran, with a pro-Dignity Operation figure.

The Speaker of the Tobruk-based HoR, Aqilah Saleh, issued an ordinance that positioned Al-Nathori as the military governor of the area outspread from Derna to Ben Jawad, urging the eastern civilian authorities to do as the military governor says.
