Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) has selected a 24-member team to engage in the forthcoming political talks aimed at resolving the country’s political stalemate.

The new team, picked by the presidency office of the parliament, is headed by Abdul-Salam Nasiya, an MP representing the western mountain town of Zintan.

According to the formation decree, the team should abide by “the national constants” stated in HoR resolution No. 4 for 2017.

Earlier this month, the House of Representatives set preconditions, which it called “the national constants,” in order to resume talks with rival political institutions.

Libya has plunged into political chaos since 2014 with two rival parliaments and three competing governments, affecting the national economy and the daily lives of citizens.
