Civil societies' activists, political stakeholders, and other figures from Tripoli urged Saturday for pushing any armed clashes away from the capital and for thwarting any escalation in Tripoli at this time.

They also rejected the return of the military rule to Libya, urging for the peaceful circulation of power and fighting terrorism.

They reaffirmed, in a statement on Saturday, that the freedoms of speech and expression must be guaranteed for all nationals, rejecting using political slogans to ignite tribalism, regionalism or other biased motives such as those used by the Friday protesters in Tripoli.

The activists also condemned the attack on media institutions and stressed on the need for the commitment to professionalism in media so that they can help support peace efforts in Libya.
