The Chief of Staff of the government of the Presidential Council in Libya, Abdelrahman Al-Taweel, has rejected the dismissal order issued in February, saying he is in post and that unifying military institutions can enforce unity among political ones.

Al-Taweel told Sputnik Saturday that he won't hand over his post to his replacement "Mohammed Al-Sharif," saying the Head of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sirraj dismissed him in an individual decision "and that is illegal."

"I will be working in my position as long as there is no unanimous decision taken by all of PC members as the law says." He added.

Al-Taweel added that there's no coordination between the military forces in west and east Libya and that the eastern forces cannot enter Tripoli as long as the capital has a strong joint force that can resist fiercely.

"If the army in eastern Libya advanced into Tripoli, then the capital will be destroyed." He remarked.

He indicated that he is ready to meet with Khalifa Haftar and strike an agreement to unify the military institution.

Al-Sirraj sacked Al-Taweel last February and replaced him with Mohammed Al-Sharif.
