A military parade took place Wednesday in Martyrs Square to commemorate the fourth anniversary of freeing Tripoli from the grip of the Gaddafi regime. The parade included procession of different kinds of weapons of the Libyan army’s General Staff in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief Nuri Abu Sahmain, and Prime Minister, who is also Minister of Defense, Khalifa Al-Ghweil.

In his speech, Abu Sahmain said that such a parade is a message for peace not for war or fight, stressing that the war broke out this time last year was not intended to give power to the GNC as the media claimed, but it was for standing in the face of the coup attempts.

“The coup started earlier in February 2014 when the coup plotters, led by rogue General Khalifa Haftar, announced the freezing of the constitutional declaration and arresting members of the GNC and the Chief of Staff.” he indicated, adding that all of that happened under the vision of the European ambassadors in Tripoli as well as the UN mission in Tripoli and the whole world, too.

He stressed that to transfer the country to the next stage, all should respect the constitutional declaration and the court ruling, pointing out that the GNC welcomes the idea of a parliament or any other similar apparatus, but they must be based on an agreed-upon grounds and involve the revolutionaries, the injured, and the patriotic citizens, according to him.

Abu Sahmain also stressed on the need for fighting terrorism and extremism as well as illegal immigration, indicating that Libya is not a producer of the illegal immigration phenomenon, but it’ s just a transit state, refuting at the same time the Tunisian media allegations and officials that claimed that Libya is the source of the terrorism which hit their country.

“Was France terrorist attack sourced from Libya? On the other hand, is Libya behind what is happening in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen? Weren’t most of the terrorists arrested in Libya are from Tunisia and other countries? Or were they Libyans?” Abuu Sahmain questioned, adding that the Salvation Government officials and the Director of Libyan Intelligence went to Tunisia several times to be acquainted with this issue, but there was no positive collaboration from Tunisians.
