The First Conference for Military Intelligence Chiefs of Libya's Neighboring Countries kicked off in the Libyan capital Tripoli on Saturday in the presence of official delegations from Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Chad, and Niger.

In his opening speech, the Chief of Libyan military intelligence, Major General Mahmoud Hamza, welcomed the participating delegations, stressing that holding this conference reflected a shared commitment to enhancing regional security and stability. Hamza explained that Libya was facing challenges that require effective regional cooperation, especially in light of the rapid transformations in the region.

Meanwhile, the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Haddad, called on the countries to cooperate effectively on the level of intelligence agencies and build communication channels to confront challenges. Haddad pointed out that the security challenges everyone was facing with neighboring countries, such as terrorism, threatened the security of the region.

The Chief of the Tunisian intelligence delegation, Habib Al-Daif, stressed that the outcomes of the conference would serve as a realistic roadmap to enhance intelligence capabilities to confront changes in the region, noting that "today's challenges require more coordination from neighboring countries."

The Chief of the Chadian intelligence delegation, Ibrahim Adam, also stressed that the challenges facing the countries of the region require a rapid and effective response, hoping that this conference would be the beginning of fruitful cooperation among neighboring countries.

While the Nigerien delegation added that this conference would be an opportunity to exchange information and propose solutions to common challenges.

The Sudanese intelligence delegation expressed his country's thanks to Libya for receiving Sudanese refugees, sheltering them and treating them on an equal footing with Libyan citizens.

The Chief of the Algerian intelligence delegation, Mahrez Jeribi, considered that the deterioration of the security situation in the region was a result of the spread of cross-border crimes. He expressed his country's readiness to coordinate with neighboring countries to ensure the success of all conferences to confront all challenges in the region and to contribute to resolving all conflicts.

Jeribi also pointed out that this conference aims to open channels of communication among neighboring countries to confront common challenges across borders, adding that it would contribute to making the right decisions to achieve stability at the regional and international levels.
