The US President Donald Trump has reiterated Washington's commitment to supporting Libya to regain its unity and sovereignty, saying the ceasefire and progress of the political dialogue are good signs for ending conflicts in the country.

Trump's remarks came Wednesday in a letter to Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj on the occasion of Libya Independence Day, which will be celebrated by Libyans on December 24, according to the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Mohammad Al-Giblawi.

Al-Giblawi added on Twitter that Trump urged the Head of the Presidential Council and all Libyans to continue to work on finding a political solution to the conflict in the country.

"Trump also reiterated US support to Libya in order to regain national unity and sovereignty as two important issues for Libya to ensure stability against security, economic and humanitarian challenges." Al-Giblawi added.
