The Tunisian Foreign Minister, Othman Jerandi, has reiterated the need for maintaining security and stability as well as sovereignty in Libya as they are vital to Tunisia and the region’s stability.

Jerandi told UN Advisor Stephanie Williams on the phone that it is important to renounce violence and division and to work on supporting consensus and dialogue among Libyans, reiterating Tunisia’s support for national reconciliation that aimed at a Libyan-Libyan solution.

Jerandi said Tunisia trusts Libyans’ ability to reach consensus to make successful political decisions with the support of neighboring countries, African Union, United Nations and the international community.

Williams applauded Tunisia’s support for Libya with the aim to build bridges among all Libyans, hailing the support for UNSMIL as well as it works for the stability in Libya.
