A delegation from the Tunisian Civil Aviation Authority paid a visit to Mitiga Airport on Tuesday to have a show-around the facilities and security procedures.

The delegation was received and accompanied by the General Director of the airport, Lutfi Nashnush.

According to the media office of Mitiga Airport, the walk that the delegation had around the airport was aimed to check for the safety and security standards as well as the operation procedures in the airport.

"It is all about checking for the viability of the airport before the Tunisian airliners decide to conduct flights to and from Mitiga Airport after over two years of suspension." The media office said.

Tunisian authorities banned Libyan airliners from conducting flights to its airports and extended the ban on Carthage airport more than once until it scrapped in April 2016, yet the ban on Tunisian airliners going to and from Libya is still in place.
