The Libyan Public Prosecution has announced the death of a Tunisian gunman and the arrest of another near the country's western border. The two suspects were being pursued due to their illegal possession of firearms.
According to a press release from the Attorney General's Office, the Nalut branch of the Stability Support Apparatus received intelligence regarding the presence and activities of two Tunisian nationals in the vicinity of the western Libyan border.
One of the men surrendered voluntarily, revealing the actions of his companion and the reasons for possessing weapons and explosives hidden in a remote area.
The statement further detailed that forces from the Stability Support Apparatus, with assistance from the Deterrence Apparatus for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime, successfully pinpointed the whereabouts of the second suspect.
During the raid, the suspect attempted to resist the forces by hurling a hand grenade, leading to his demise. The area was secured and thoroughly inspected, and the deceased's body was examined.
