The Salvation Government has said that securing the borders between Libya and Tunisia must be approved by negotiation and coordination and that any unilateral procedure in this regard would not achieve stability and security between the two countries.

The SG called in a statement on Monday for more discussions and collaboration with Libyan authorities regarding the security of borders, saying that it is strange that Tunisia has cold feet as regards coordinating with Libya, knowing that Libyan Ministry of Defense has called on Tunisian authorities for it and has until now been neglected.

“We must confess that Tunisia used to suffer from terrorism before revolution, such as the university incident, Bab Swiqa and Al-Qasba incidents, as well as attacking Al-Jazeera Bus in Djerba and the first attack on the Bardo Museum, Al-Shaabni mountain repetitive incidents and finally the deadly attack on Sousse. Not to mention the different assassinations in the country, which all clearly show that Tunisia is still suffering from terrorism just as before.” The SG indicated.

The statement clarified that some Tunisian officials blame Libya for exporting terrorism to their country, which is not true because Libya is just another victim of that very terrorism, especially which it is trying to build a new modern democratic state that renounces all kinds of such terrorism.

The SG also urged Tunisian media to stay away from provocative speeches asking it to adopt more balanced and responsible ones that can lead to solutions for both countries, denouncing the statements that accuse Libyan people of violent acts in Tunisia without material evidence or investigations, which would broaden the gap between the two neighbors a bit more.

It concluded by calling on the Tunisian authorities to quickly form joint investigation committees to investigate about the incidents, warning against accusing Libyans without any strands of evidence.
