The Air Ambulance Service has taken delivery of two Bell 429 helicopters, according to AirMed & Rescue, a magazine specializing in aviation missions.
The helicopters, ordered in March 2023, were supplied by Africair, an authorized Textron dealer in Africa, with additional support from United Libya Systems. The delivery follows the June 2023 arrival of a Bell 505 helicopter, also ordered earlier that year.
The Bell 429 is equipped to carry seven passengers and one pilot, with a top speed of 287 kilometers per hour and a range of 689 kilometers.
These new additions are expected to enhance emergency medical services across Libya, particularly in remote and difficult-to-reach areas. According to the report, the helicopters will significantly improve the air ambulance service’s ability to deliver life-saving care where it is most needed.
