Two security personnel from a patrol tasked to secure Zamzam checkpoint, 150 km to the southeast of Misrata, were killed in a suicide attack, according to the commander of the brigade responsible for that district’s security, Kamal Friwan.

Friwan confirmed in a press statement that the explosion was followed by heavy clashes in Al-Baghla district next to the Haisha Al-Jadeeda Preserve, which is 15 km to the west of Zamzam, adding that the clashes are still ongoing in Wadi Bey district.

In the meantime, medical sources from Misrata confirmed that 6 injuries arrived at the accidents and emergencies department in Misrata due to the IS attack on Korbat Al-Baghala and Zamzam today.

The military council of Misrata has announced mobilization of troops of all the city’s brigades amid news that said tens of armed vehicles and hundreds of revolutionaries had already headed to the clashes’ spots with IS militants.

The ongoing clashes have shut down the supply road to the troops of the Central Shield Force, which is positioned in Al-Jufra after it clashed Monday in Zillah with African mercenary forces affiliated with the militias of the renegade Gen. Khalifa Haftar.
