The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has announced the resumption of meetings by its Advisory Committee, tasked with resolving key disagreements over the country’s electoral framework.

According to a statement on the mission’s website, the committee is working towards finalising a comprehensive proposal that could help Libyan institutions organise credible and inclusive national elections.

The proposals are expected to include practical, politically viable options and a realistic timeline for implementation.

The mission said it anticipates the committee will conclude its report by the end of the month.

The dedication and perseverance of the committee members have been instrumental in addressing complex issues and laying the groundwork for a viable electoral framework, UNSMIL said.
