Two new government appointments of UN-installed Presidency Council have sparked anger in social media after close relatives of Tobruk Parliament MPs were picked for the new government line-up.

On Sunday, the PC named Osama Hammad as Minister-designate of the Ministry of Finance, Abu Baker Al-Jafal as Undersecretary of Finance Ministry, Abdul-Bari Shinbaro as Undersecretary of Local Government Ministry, and Tareq Abu Nasira as Undersecretary of Foreign Ministry.

The selected Finance Minister Osama Hammad is the brother of Tobruk MP Mohammed Hammad, a strong supporter of Libyan political agreement.

Sources said he does not have any prior experience in the field of finance. He was the personal secretary of PC member Fathi Al-Mijibri during his post as education minister in Abdullah Al-Thanni government. Osama Hammad was also named for the ministry of electricity in the previous PC government, which was rejected by Tobruk Parliament.

The Undersecretary of Local Government Abdul-Bari Shinbaro has been also picked on the basis of nepotism. He is the brother of Tobruk Parliament MP Amara Shinbaro, also a strong backer of Libyan political agreement.

The new appointments are seen as a political bribe by the UN-installed Presidency Council to guarantee the support of Tobruk Parliament MPs.

The PC has also showed favouritism on the selection of the previous ministers-designate, many of them are relatives of Libyan political agreement backers.

Foreign Minister-designate Mohammed Siala is the uncle of Tobruk Parliament MP Hamouda Siala. Minister of Culture Asma Al-Osta is the cousin of MP Khaled Al-Osta. Minister of Interior Aref Koja is the cousin of MP Asma Koja.
