The member of the Libyan Presidential Council, Ahmed Mitig and the Coordinator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Libya, Maria Ribeiro, discussed in a meeting in Tripoli on Wednesday humanitarian responses across all sectors in the country.

Mitig reaffirmed that the UN's role is very important in providing humanitarian assistance, hailing the achievements in that regard in southern districts and in Benghazi.

"The UNDP and the UNSMIL should remain committed to the work that would enhance humanitarian response and provide better services to people." Mitig said.

Ribeiro discussed Sunday, with Technical Adviser of the Foreign Ministry, Mahmoud El Tlissi, facilitating visas for United Nations staff.

The meeting held at the ministry's HQ in Tripoli examined ways to enhance relations between the UNSMIL and the Libyan state, and efforts to overcome the challenges, reviewing strategic frameworks of the UN's agencies' work in Libya, in addition to new appointments of the mission's staff in Libya.

UNDP is involved in many sectors in Libya, including health, education, and reconciliation efforts and it is also funding different development projects in certain municipalities with budget of 23 million dinars.
