On Wednesday, uneasy calm was reported after the ceasefire that was reached on Tuesday under the auspices of the UNSMIL's Head Ghassan Salame.

Areas in southern Tripoli, where fighting has raged on for over a week, were relatively calm and no traffic was seen on certain roads, where heavy clashes occurred over the last few days.

According to social media activists' photos, clashes took place in Wadi Al-Rabee and Salah Eddine areas hours after the ceasefire was reached. No verification for the photos has been made.

UNSMIL announced that Libyan armed groups has agreed and signed on a ceasefire under the auspices of its Head Ghassan Salame in a meeting on Tuesday in Al-Zawiya. The agreement included also agreeing to reopen Mitiga Airport in Tripoli.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Presidential Council (PC) Fayez Al-Sirraj formed Tuesday a crisis committee and said he would chair it to follow up on the capitals status quo.

According to the media office of the PC, the committee will implement some security measures until the capital rests in stability.

The committee includes several officials, security and military officers as well as other stakeholders.

Al-Sirraj declared the state of emergency two days ago to protect Libyans and their properties in Tripoli amid violent clashes that left dozens killed and others injured.
