The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) held a briefing on Tuesday for members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Libya, led by Acting Deputy Special Representative, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator Aeneas Chuma.
The briefing, as reported on the mission’s Facebook page, addressed key issues encompassing the nation’s political, security, and economic landscape, along with the status of human rights.
The session also addressed progress in municipal elections, challenges encountered by Libyan women, and the mission’s initiatives in mine clearance and raising awareness about mine risks.
The UN mission emphasized that these regular gatherings, which assemble ambassadors, heads of missions, and diplomatic envoys, are designed to reinforce comprehension and collaboration between the mission and the diplomatic community, aiming to support efforts for advancing Libya’s stability and prosperity.
