The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has extended congratulations to Libyans on the occasion of the Islamic New Year 1446.
The mission shared on its X account, "Wishing Libya and its people a blessed, happy and prosperous new Hijri Year."
It expressed hope for elections and lasting peace and stability in the coming year.
Earlier on Sunday, President Mohamed Menfi of the Presidential Council congratulated the Libyan people on this occasion and expressed his optimism and determination to continue working towards the aspirations of Libyans for a better future.
It is noteworthy that Sunday was a public holiday in Libya to celebrate the Islamic New Year 1446, with exceptions for students taking their secondary school exams this year.
