A source close to the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) has confirmed that the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) informed the members to postpone a meeting that is scheduled to be held on Sunday, adding that UNSMIL has confirmed that it will organize other meetings to allow everyone to participate effectively.
Several LPDF members said they were trying to revive it and bring its contribution back to the Libyan situation, saying an extended meeting was supposed to be held on Sunday in the presence of UNSMIL representatives.
The member of the LPDF for the High Council of State, Musa Faraj, said that the members will meet with the coordinator of the UNSMIL, Raisedon Zenenga, at the request of a number of members, to discuss the current stalemate.
Faraj said at least 30 LPDF members could attend in person and others via Zoom, stressing that the aim of this meeting is to review the political situation in light of the implemented outcomes of Tunisia and Geneva meetings.
Ten months ago, several LPDF members called on the Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres to correct the track of work of the political process in Libya, saying it was about to collapse.
