The two terrorist hijackers of Afriqiyah plane have surrendered, Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has confirmed.

Muscat tweeted that the hijackers have been searched and taken into custody.

The two  terrorists have been identified as Musa Shaha and Ahmed Ali and claimed they are members of New Al-Fateh Party. They also demanded asylum in Malta before being arrested.

The Safety Director Afriqiyah Airways Mukhtar Al-Mahmoudi said all 111 passengers and 7 crew members are now safe.
