Haftar

‎The Head of the Libyan American Alliance, Essam Omeish, announced that a US court had accepted the appeal in all three lawsuits filed against Khalifa Haftar by the families of Libyan victims in the US.

Omeish revealed on his official Facebook page that the hearing with the Federal Court of Appeals of the Fourth Circuit would take place from 18 to 21 March, 2025.

Last April, a US Judge at the Federal Court for Eastern Virginia decided to refuse to continue considering the lawsuits filed under the Torture Victims Protection Act, explaining that this law and the lawsuits "do not precisely fall within the jurisdiction of the Federal Court for Eastern Virginia."

Omeish confirmed at the time that the legal team of the Libyan American Alliance would request the appeal and present the lawsuit to the Federal Court of Appeals of the Fourth Circuit, which supervises the work of the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
